NCLD’s new, free, Parent Advocacy Brief, Understanding the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act, provides an overview of the changes brought about by the Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008 and how these changes apply to Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act — a law that applies more broadly than the ADA. Parents of students with learning disabilities and other disorders such as AD/HD should be sure to become familiar with this important information.

i need info on a situation i dont know if this is the right forum to do so but i am desperate. I have a 9yr autistic son and last yr he was having problems w/ one of his paras, she wasn’t being very nice to him and it was causing him to act out at home he would scream kick things he began to bed wet and a host of things. We had him to still work w/ her so maybe things could be worked out but to no avail so it was ordered by me the parent and agreed upon by the school that they not work together anymore, in his last IEP meeting that we had they asked us if it would be possible that they work together again and from me it was an emphatic NO and reminded them of the problems that t caused at that point another solution was worked out, so i thought they knew how i felt i was told another solution would work out. A few days later my son came home and old me that he worked with her 3 times in one day! they did not call me i got a feable excuse as to why i was NOT called and informed, i called the school to comfirm if it was so and i got a reply of yes. Later that night my son wet the bed and is showing signs of past anguish i have informed them of that and they continue to have him work with her! I NEED to know what can i do to save him from a setback so he wont start not to want to go to school again as he did last yr i did take him out as a result last yr it was a huge ordeal i want to protect him was doing so well and i fear a setback. What rights as a parent do i have what rights does my son have? if anyone can help me please contact me at fighting4autism@care2.com thanx in advance! worried mom
1 more thing i was told that they were doing this because of budget cuts!
