Description: MetLife Foundation and the Local Initiatives Support Corporation are partnering for the ninth year to recognize, sustain, and share the work of innovative partnerships between community groups and police to promote neighborhood safety and revitalization.

Cash grants will be awarded in two categories. Neighborhood Revitalization Awards (six awards of $15,000 to $25,000 each) will honor exemplary collaboration between community groups and police that yields crime reduction as well as economic development outcomes, such as real estate development, business attraction, and job growth. Special Strategy Awards (five awards of $15,000 each) will honor community and police partners who have achieved significant accomplishments in one of the following areas: applied technology; aesthetics and greenspace improvement; diversity inclusion and integration; drug market disruption; gang prevention and youth safety; and seniors and safety.

Eligible applicants are community organizations, community development corporations, police/sheriff’s departments, community partnerships, Weed & Seed programs, and collaboratives comprising more than one of these elements. Public agencies (including police departments and public schools) must appl! y in conjunction with at least one nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization that was a leading partner in the collaboration and will serve as a fiscal agent for award funds. Applicants must be U.S.-based.

Awardees will receive monetary grants ranging from $15,000 to $25,000 each. Case studies about award-winning partnerships will be disseminated throughout the community development and law enforcement industries.

Join the Arizona Community Foundation’s programs staff for “ACF Basics,” a free, ongoing overview of ACF’s grantmaking procedures, current initiatives and funding opportunities. Workshop topics include: funding priorities, grant cycles, eligibility requirements, components of ACF’s online grant application, and the grant application review process. The Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits, in partnership with the City of Phoenix and the Phoenix Public Library – Burton Barr Branch, is pleased to present the Alliance October Grants Forum on October 22 from 9:30 a.m. to Noon. This Forum connects nonprofit organizations seeking grants with grant funders. In addition, participants will learn about opportunities for partnership, and networking with other attendees and presenters.

The Arizona Women’s Partnership, Inc. (AZWP), an all-volunteer philanthropic 501(c)3 nonprofit, awards grants to grass-roots charities that assist underserved women and children at risk here in Arizona.

“We are proud to note that the Arizona Women’s Partnership, Inc. has awarded over $130,000 in grants since 2003 to more than 36 grass-roots nonprofits, many of which are multiple year recipients,” notes Paula Cullison, AZWP President and Founder. Funds are generated though the annual Wine, Women and Jazz FUNdraiser set for Saturday April 17th at the Arizona Culinary Institute in Scottsdale.

Applicants must be 501(c)3 nonprofits with operating budgets of under $200,000; be in good financial standing; be non-sectarian; non-partisan; non-school affiliated, and reflect their mission.

The program offers individual grants of up to $5,000 each and team grants of up to $10,000 each for the summer of 2010.

Description: Usher’s New Look, a nonprofit organization founded by entertainer Usher Raymond IV that supports underprivileged youth in using their talents to become community leaders, has announced the launch of Powered By Service, a new initiative to encourage young people around the world to become involved in addressing the most pressing problems facing their communities – from preventing malaria and stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS to ending gang violence and increasing access to clean water.

Young people all over the world can participate in Powered By Service. Participants will have access to online toolkits and opportunities to apply for financial resources to support their projects. Grants will be awarded for exceptional service ideas.

Powered By Service currently has two grant opportunities available for youth volunteers.

Sponsored by the United Nations Foundation, the “Nothing but Nets” grant is designed to help youth create projects that increase awareness and funds for the purchase of bed nets to prevent the spread of malaria in Africa.

Sponsored by the Corporation for National and Community Service’s Learn and Serve America, the “What’s Your Power?” grant opportunity offers funding for projects that address any issue. Youth are invited to design a project around the cause that interests them.
